What happens to Bitcoin after 2140? Will bitcoin transactions work? How will miners be incentivised without the block subsidy? What role do futures markets play?

  1. Andreas, you are wrong that "nothing happens" when block subsidy drops to 0. If that causes some miners to stop mining and difficulty drops it means that the whole bitcoin network is more susceptible to 51% attack. That's a huge danger. We better figure out how to increase the number of transaction and fees that come with it to keep miners getting rewarded enough to NOT DROP mining.

  2. Hello Andreas. To me, the question is more about how to ensure the security of the bitcoin network in a world where more than half of the block reward is not 100% certain. How to collectively make sure that ppl put enough fees in the blocks to secure the transactions of everybody elses?

  3. No offense, but everything I've learned about crypto and bitcoin in general in the past few years is that as an American with access to excellent banking I really have no need for it. Whats the point? There is no more Silk Road and I'm not doing anything illegal. So, unless I live in Brazil, China, or Iraq, why in the world would I need this technology? As the old saying goes this "solves a problem that doesn't exist"

  4. Bitcoin Satoshi Vision is here for bitcoin miners. BTC will not be profitable to mine after the halving in 2020. Satoshi vision fixes this by being scalable and reliable. The Protocol will be locked down so corporations like Walmart Facebook and google will want to use the blockchain because it will save them money. BTC is not bitcoin segwit is not mentioned anywhere in the white paper. BTC is control by a few select developers.

  5. You are the man Andreas, thanks for being such a consistent, positive force for the coming age. You have armed many inquisitive minds with the sword and shield of knowledge, and given many more the confidence to start asking the right questions.
