What are Metropolis and Constantinople? How are the stages of Ethereum development planned? Will there be a switch from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake? What is the difficulty bomb?

NOTE: This video was recorded several months ago, but is being published on what was (until recently) the scheduled activation date for the Constantinople hard fork — phase two of Metropolis — of October 30th. The Byzantium hard fork — phase one of Metropolis — has since been implemented. However, the Constantinople hard fork was postponed again to “early 2019.” Also, the plans to transition to pure proof-of-stake through a hybrid system was changed due to the decision to deprecate Casper FFG in favour of another hybrid update & merged release called “Casper V2,” and on a different timescale.

  8. You might regret this video if this fantasyland PoS idea fails to work. Would be smarter to try radical experiments on a whole new genesis block, rather than make funhouse Ethereum more confusing.

  9. Thanks for your video and explanation. It is understandable that most of people just care about the price of crypto but not technology. Keep going because some others appreciate what you have done because they like technology instead of money.

  18. Is it not true that as greater value accrues to ETH token, transaction fees on the network will rise, thus increasing costs for users and developers and therefore discouraging use of the network for some?
