How secure are mobile wallets compared to desktops or hardware wallets? How easy is it for each type of device to be compromised? Does a factory reset or re-installed operating system help? How hard is it to properly set up a factory-reset or airgapped laptops? Can malware be transmitted via USB? What is the Glacier Protocol?
These questions are from the MOOC 9.4 session, as well as a monthly Patreon Q&A session, which took place on March 9th and March 31st 2018 respectively. That's why I generate my Paper wallet offline.
It all sounds so very complicated and insecure !…
Just wondering if you think Trezor is still secure. I have my doubts since last August when version 1.5.2 fixed a chip vulnerability that could expose the seed if one has physical access. Now I hear BitFi wallet (John McAfee) generates everything from a strong passphrase and never stores the seed. Because nothing exists on the device and can be completely recreated from the passphrase, there is nothing to hack.
How do you securely store alt coins that are not (yet) supported by a hardware wallet?
I always learn something from you
If most Bitcoin is held by a small group of people, is it dangerous?
I have a question of advice that I’m sure you have thought about. Ok now my wallets are set up. I have all my assets safe and secure. I get into a car accident. I am in a coma for months. I have a lot of assets in crypto. How should I prepare for this situation. I don’t want it to be lost forever. Maybe just my wife knowing where the keys are just aren’t enough. Maybe she is in a coma too. What’s your thoughts on staying prepared to pass on your assets.
I remember you talking about mobile phone wallets and their security before. I always pass on the advice. Thanks you
Well explained video as always, Andreas. It’s always a pleasure to learn crypto from your videos. ??
Questions:
1. What would happen to the stored keys if the companies behind Ledger Nano S go bust?
2. What’s your feedback on blockchain based mobile phones like the ones built by Serin Labs, as mobile wallets?
3. What’s your take on Ethos and Arcana mobile wallets?
HW it is
Your contribution to Bitcoin space without any incentives is great.Hats off to you buddy.
Why do you think people CAN bring certain physical objects with them when troubles happen?
Why does a full node occasionally take a LONG time to catch up ?

Great content as always andreas… hardware wallets need to be integrated into our phones using the micro sd or extra device such as a these watch phone add on for mass market and ease of use 2 layer security I think
What would you suggest on where to get trustworthy assistance in trying to to put crypto on a trezor cold storage wallet? I’ve attempted this a few times with no success?
Thanks AA for all the info!
I assume the added benefit of Cooperhead OS on a phone or having a Librem 5 phone for additional levels of security is overkill?
This is a perfect example of why most normies will NEVER get into any kind of crypto. Storage is the elephant in the room. Way too complicated and cumbersome.
Dude, you're a bit close to the camera. Do these questions come in via patrion?
Literally the best non biased info. In this Cryptofud world, A. A. is safe haven.
FYI: The raspberry pi was not affected by spectre or meltdown, as well as a few other arm chips…
Hi Andreas,
Could you elaborate on the discovered hardware wallet vulnerabilities you discussed at 12:34
So… what type of security setups do profesional custodial services use? a lot of trezor/ledger devices? paper wallets with seeds in many pieces and distributed in many different locations?
ur thoughts on Bitfi wallet ?
Thanks for this information AA.
What is your thought on cold storage like Ledger nano s vs cloud storage like Toast? Isn't your crypto on the blockchain no matter where you keep your coins? Meaning, isn't a nano s just an encrypted store of passwords to get to your crypto?

Smashed the like……
I love your work
