Interview w/ David Chaum | The Father of E-Cash & XX.Network

1. It was an honor and privilege to have David here on the channel (Not sponsored). For those of you who admire the cryptocurrency movement, it’s important to understand where it got its roots from, and how those early founders are leading the current space forward!

2. This seems like a really valuable idea. I wish he could have presented it more clearly and directly. The ominous music in the introduction video was a little off putting as well – like a cheesy political ad.

3. What worries me the most is that he seems to be claiming he made his own crypto algorithm and is trying to pass this off as a positive thing and trying to pass off well-known, well-tested open-source algorithms as a negative thing.
   My impression is he knows what he is doing technologically but not socially or for long-term robustness. I hope he makes good contributions but I don't believe this specific thing will become broadly used.
   The one-vote-per user would be interesting – if it was possible. I've yet to research how he claims to achieve this (and he didn't say in the video) but without off-chain identity, you just end up with tons of "users" all representing one motivated or well-off individual or organization. This especially doesn't make sense for his privacy focus.

4. Thank god for people like you and David, who understand the struggle Democracy faces against tyranny.

5. I really liked this interview and I love what David Chaum is doing. However, I wish you had asked him two 'elephant in the room' questions. I would have LOVED to hear David's answer to them because I think he has thought much of this through. Those questions are: 1) What about terrorism? This is one aspect that governments will certainly be concerned about when people have access to such a powerful tool. What happens when, inevitably, people who want to hurt other people use a system like this? 2) What about money laundering? It's no small issue that drug cartels and all manner of criminals will be able use such a network to casually finance and organize their operations with impunity.

   Don't get me wrong, I'm in favor of what David is doing, but I do believe such questions need to be fully answered in order to avoid creating something that has as much or more downside as upside. I don't believe that these issues should prevent us from having our privacy. However, I know that governance will not overlook them. It seems to be the crux of the matter.

8. Weird that they chose the name Elixir when that's already an internet development programming language.

9. Hm, seems very legit. Quantum isnt unhackable though, that will be hackable by future quantum computers, no? Wondering, it seems like he has a unique idea. The chat part is being done, It reminds me of the app called KeyBase, ive been sharing it for years..

10. Atm the only thing they have are 3 websites. I’d really like to see some lines of code. The vision sounds great though

11. I really hope they will live up to what they claim. Atm they don’t have a github repository nor a proper whitepaper. And now they have a referral program for the token sale… Which is pretty fishy in my opinion
