2. I live in South Africa. SA has taken a very quick, hard line to a complete lockdown. I’m so conflicted about it. SA is one of the most unequal societies in the world. Meaning that lockdown has very different meanings for people on either side of the divide. Also means public health couldn’t be equipped to cope with a major health crises. BUT the impact of this action on the economy is going to mean an even worse economic situation for even more people. I don’t think South Africans have any idea of what’s going to hit in the next 6 months. And I suspect the fallout is going to be way worse . People will die of starvation and violence and suicide as desperation sets in.
   I work for NGO’s , so right now I’m safe. But all NGO’s rely on foreign funding from countries that are going to have to focus their money on their own countries. From next year, NGO’s and their amazing, important work will be affected.
   Phew. I’m just throwing every spare cent I have into crypto. Risky I know but keeping cash is probably more risky. How those coins will help me in the future, I have no idea. But I suspect I’ll be one of the lucky ones in a year’s time.

6. To those saying this will be an unfair advantage to the rich being able to afford BTC: I’ve put some thought into this and even if they hoard BTC, your hold on some percentage of the blockchain would only increase drastically.

   If the rich jumped ship to BTC while the fiat buying power is overestimated, of course they will retain at least some percentage of their financial status, but your percentage will be relatively higher. Consider that 1T$ is appearing daily out of thin air while the dollar retains its current buying power short term. This $1T daily (close to 0% is seen by the majority of citizens) is well over the entire market cap of BTC, so the elites dumping their $ into BTC still gives a HUGE boost to past, current and future holders of the currency. Essentially the battle of fiat and blockchain is a future stake in deflationary vs inflationary assets. As people abandon the inflationary ship, BTC buying power (assuming it’s the deflationary asset of choice) increases drastically.

   Consider the most extreme example: The USA—which right now means the entire world—decides to go to the BTC standard. Now there would still be preservation of the current economic elite, because their fiat is still valuable because of the economy, government, military, etc. but there would have to be a direct correspondence of fiat with the decentralized deflationary BTC.

   The problem is this example will never happen voluntarily unless a group like Satoshi or other MASSIVE holders of the currency have insane amounts of direct political influence. Governments already have huge stake in gold reserves and won’t intentionally hand over that much buying power.

   BTC is a marvelous idea, but the world is just nowhere near adopting it as a standard and probably never will. That being said, I don’t see BTC ever becoming worthless because it actually has the mechanisms to keep retaining some level of value FOREVER.

   In the future it may very well be worth TONS of money but largely as an artifact of scarcity and maybe a little extra boost because of its utility. The problem with utility is it is not the most efficient/optimal digital asset for transferability, which is why I maintain it will be prized possession like digital diamonds.

Gold and silver supplies are all sold out. Bank hours reduced. ATM out of $100 bills. Grocery lines are getting longer with limits entering the building. I'm practicing all my prepper culinary arts menu, managing and adjusting the perishable items and applying survival craft for long isolation. All my sharp objects and hardware operational and waiting for the looting and home invaders. Bugout bags ready and no where to bugout to.

I'm long on all of it, and only watch the monthly MACD. Whatever happens next, happens. Losing everything is a foregone conclusion. Crypto is now my only hope. During lockdown, i'm learning DevOps skills so I can re-enter the market and crush it on the highest day rates in the industry and re-build my cash position quickly. Crypto is now a way of life.

40. I live in Austin, tech city with lots of freelancers. We have a notorious traffic problem that seems to have magically disappeared overnight in wake of the virus. I miss restaurant diningrooms. Shopping feels like a hazmat roll play and it's sad to see a tourist and entertainment city turn into a freeze-frame. No one seems happy except the telecommuters who think they're on a jogging and biking vacation.

    As far as me; my job is secure and I'm making more money than usual but I'm about to commit to crypto 100% this month by activating a wallet-linked debit card and adding money to new exchanges to arbitrage instead of just relying on the values to fluctuate. So I'm going to engage in accumulation while I ease out of the workplace entirely, for monetary opportunitys as well as personal safety and sanity.

44. Most municipalities through the United States allow a few backyard chickens. Mine allows 3 they don’t need much to live just some room to get bugs and a dry place where you want them to lay an egg for you. Food? They have chicken food for cheap 50lb bag about 12-16 $ given enough room you don’t need to feed them much maybe just leftover or spoiled veggies and fruit. Look it up online. They are a great renewable source of food.
