  2. Hi Phil, I've got some IPO related questions:

    1. What are the main benefits a company gets from doing an IPO? Is it a way to raise capital to build the business? Is it a way for the original investors to cash out?

    2. Once the shares are selling on the open market how does your buying or selling them affect the company? This relates to your idea of benefiting companies you like (share their values) by buying their shares. I'm not clear on how a stock purchase has any positive effect on the company's performance other than adding to share demand.

  3. This is basically what Warren Buffet says on the topic yet you explain it really well.. Your analysis is intelligent, logical and well put.

Based on what you said about shares of IPO's dropping significantly after the introduction one could posit to buy them then (at a discount) yet this would be speculation and not really sound investing.

  4. My main question about any IPO: Why they are doing it in first place?
A: They have a great idea or opportunity to grow, but they don’t have enough resources?
B: They don’t need any money, but the current owners want to cash out when the price is up?

A is a valid reason if I understand why they need the money, and I believe it is a good, profitable idea for them to invest in that purpose.
But I see B awfully lot, when they are not in a capital intensive industry, and they don’t even need that cash, they just want to sell. And since they are not public yet, they have all the information, and know much more about the company’s future than anyone on the market. And based on that knowledge, they chose to sell…. big red flag…

  5. I invested in Uber as a spec stock after they tanked and i have been in the green since. Not a huge position but hoping the company becomes profitable and i can add to my position over time!

  6. Yup, I Am investing in IPO of Hospital Group Company. and the stock just went down after couple of days. however The Hospital Group have 20 years experiance in Health Business. and they done well with profit. Until Now 1 year after IPO, the stock never reach its value at the same price as IPO. i dont know why?

  7. Thank you so much for this video! I was all set to invest in Beyond Meat IPO but my uncle a former very successful investor advised me that he only invest in companies that are at minimum 10 years publicly traded. I didn't buy it and now I'm keeping them on my watch list as I know they're very much overvalued currently. The fact that you reiterated his wordsmade me feel I really made the right decision thank you Phil!

  8. I think IPOs are a scam, or legal Con by CEOS, investors and companies debt owners, to get their money some how from the public for their loss making companies for example Slack " WORK" , UBER, DROPBox and more . BYND meat recently see what they did to public investors making a second offering even before the 6 month is over . big Scam!!! .

  9. I invested in s2 medical just after ipo. I bought shares in it within 6 weeks I made a 103% profit, I jumped the boat after that because I knew it was over priced at that point. It plummeted and still going down. I'm waiting for the sale that's coming soon

  10. IPOs are set up for big fish to own before the start then they just jump out after it pops. Then the little guys get to lose money. There is usually a dive if you catch that dive you can buy at the bottom and it will do a little bounce but I wont risk it.

  11. Great material, Phil. Very insightful information, that requires however some background knowledge and overall understanding of the principles of the..well – as you like to say – the only real investing strategy there is 🙂 keep up the good work and thank you for consistently sharing such great value to us, your eager to learn audience. Now, go play!
