Dan Pena says that Russian President Vladimir Putin is the creator of Bitcoin and has built up the technology as an elaborate plot to bring down the American dollar. According to Pena, this absurd conspiracy represents an attempt by Putin to crash the US economy once BTC “inevitably goes to zero”.

With this legendarily dumb statement, Dan Pena joins the ranks of Warren Buffet, Charlie Munger, Bill Gates, Nouriel Roubini and Paul Krugman as an ageing businessman commenting on matters he knows nothing about.

  24. Good video. Yes somehow he believes that since he has money he is then looked upon for guidance, as if he only is in this position due to his intelligence. What he doesn't understand, and most others, is that many factors external to our control play vital roles in the obtaining of vast wealth. In other words, he got lucky af, but luck in this situation is viewed by him and many others largely as grit, gumption, brains, blessed by the universe, different from ordinary man, an outlier. Many respectable factors play roles in ordinary success, many more in extraordinary success, including work, intelligence, courage, but those are not everything. So knowing that almost certainly the only thing that 'separates' him from the ordinary masses is luck and opportunity, does his opinion on something so out of his league hold anymore value than say your neighbors? The guy is arrogant and has convinced himself years ago that he's smarter than most.

  38. He’s scared to death of it, it’s so obvious. He’s just pissed he didn’t load the boat a few years ago. When the financial collapse comes and he’s sitting on piles of hyper inflated fiat, he will be scrambling to roll his fortunes into the obvious hedge bitcoin is against our flawed monetary system.
