Is Segregated Witness necessary for the Lightning Network? Yes. The Lightning Network can be implemented at this time but the result would be less efficient without SegWit. It is a pre-requisite for a lot of things.

You know what I've learned in my short time with crypto? Bitcoin is just the first alt coin. It pumps and dumps like all the rest so watch the negative news when BTC is high watch it dive and then buy low. When positive news for BTC starts coming out through social media BTC will rise and you will reap the reward. When more negative news starts coming out get ready to sell BTC. BTC is a social media Pump and Dump alt coin.
This is technically not correct. He says that Segwit is needed, but in actuality a malleability fix is required. Segwit includes malleability fix, but there are other proposed malleability fixes.
I have a noob question, Lightning Network seems to be a private sidechain with Enterprises behind and correct if i am wrong. Any possibility of we have other side chains?
SegWit signaling is at about ~67% on Litecoin! Just another 8% to go for activation! This awesome technology will be a reality one way or another!
