Bitcoin’s “innovation in trust,” radical self-reliance, and social scaling. Everyone is following the same consensus rules. It is an emergent model for trust in a decentralised network-centric, game theoretical, market-based security system. We’re at the infancy of this technology, so right now it’s very difficult for individuals to secure their own bitcoin; this creates a tendency to concentrate funds and rely on third parties. There are two kinds of centralised exchanges: those that have been hacked and those that will be hacked. The problem is a technical skills gap – we need to make bitcoin reflexive and easy secure without centralising it. We don’t need perfect security, we need reasonable certainty. The people deeply involved in Bitcoin right now are the lunatic fringe, the “early adopters” are still five years out. If your friends are making fun of you, you’re probably doing something interesting.

  1. I have decided, I am in love with Andreas – It seems that we have the same type of friends as me. Seriously, his ability to make difficult subjects, easy to understand and very humours, is just a unique talent. I would love him to be a guest at my dinner party. The lunatic fringe – Just so funny?

  2. Maybe a question for a next video: can bitcoin ever fail to zero value? I don't think it can, since there's a considerable number of people who have bitcoin and who have paid money and/or effort for it. In other words: can anything that had a cost, fail to zero value? What's your view on this? Thanks for your great work!

  3. lol @fake money..how can it be fake if theres stock to back it up?. there are 100 stores in the us that accept bitcoin. ill mine and horde and invest..when i can use it to live off , my wallet should be fat. i found out about it 5 days ago …weil ,see what happens. ive been watching all your vids..naysayers drive me nuts..if you were not able to live off of bitcoin all this time it would be worthless and you couldnt travel, pay your bills and speak to all these people..looks to me like its worth something. ive mined 11.00 worth of it in 6 days..i know my system is slow..ill just keep going.

  4. I am about to be evicted from my house as I was unable to pay the rent due to being in a loan trap.
I know I was stupid but I would appreciate if you could donate a small amount of Bitcoins to this address to help me.

    Thx

  5. Always on point. Forget the ICO's and invest in the companies that are sorting out these issues, and I think hardware is especially important. Ledger Nano S is what I use, and i feel, at this point in time, secure.
