The biggest technical hurdle to Bitcoin adoption. User interfaces, generational change, understanding how money and specifically network-based currency works. Some people will never be comfortable with this form of money, but for many people under 30 who belong to an online connected society, doing money on the internet seems obvious. In some places, Bitcoin is being adopted quite rapidly, protecting their savings against crises.

This is part of a talk which took place on June 6th 2017 at a joint meet-up with Blockchain Professionals, BitcoinSYD and SydEthereum in Sydney, Australia: https://antonopoulos.com/event/blockchain-professionals-sydney/

  1. I think once we do get the killer app and user interface we will def see widespread adoption..it will come soon as the technology gets better! Theres gotta be an easier way and someone will do it soon I'm sure!

  2. Thought I'd throw my two Satoshi's in.

    1) The biggest technical hurdle isn't technical.
    2) Normies don't understand BTC.
    3) Normies had their education replaced with public schools and don't know that either.
    4) Normies are waiting to be told what BTC is by Authority.
    5) Normies are waiting for permission to use BTC as currency by Authority.
    6) Normies have information replaced with media, the priestly class to Authority.
    7) Normies see BTC as a distrustful speculative investment, not currency. If it is not controlled or regulated by Authority, it is evil.
    8) The good news? Normies are dying off. We'll get there.

  3. Hi Andreas, in this video you mentioned your family was able to save their savings from Greek banks using bitcoin. Have you ever expanded on this topic? If not, this a suggestion to do it if possible 🙂 Just thinking this looks like good advice for us all. Thanks!

  4. Well again great video. I need to say that there are more people around me who do not understand how crypto is working and how it could be used in the future. But some already made with my help wallets and try to understand how it could be used, I did send to each one some btc funds to see how it works.

  5. I think one big hurdle that nobody talks about is how Bitcoin's volatility undermines people's association of value with things of relatively fixed value of things they would purchase with Bitcoin. It works like a security, not like cash. I think this is obvious to people who have looked at cryptocurrencies in general, but this is a specific problem with Bitcoin. Until real things are price in Bitcoin, people will trust their understanding of fiat.
