In today’s episode of Your Simplified Coin Review we look at Decred. Decred is a digital cryptocurrency that is meant to be exchanged for value similarly to Bitcoin. Also, just like Bitcoin, it has a Max Supply of 21 Million Coins. One very cool thing about Decred is that it is extremely community driven. They have a hybrid system of Proof of Stake & Proof of Work to make sure that every part of their community has a say in the development of the coin. Right now, DCR is coming in at number 35 on Coin Market Cap. They have a strong team, good marketing, & good social media presence. However, they do face quite a challenge to become the preferred cryptocurrency of choice as there are many other digital currencies ahead of them.

5:08 you're incorrect. Stakeholders make all of the decisions in DCR. the PoW do not vote.
It may come down to principles and ideals. Some will come to this space looking for Satoshi's original vision, which this coin may finally bring. The question, I believe, is how many of these people are here or coming, and are they influencers with enough power to draw interest to this coin.

As privacy becomes a central focus of the digital world it would make since that the privacy coins outperform. Decred seems like it will be in position to capitalize on that trend in the future, thanks for the quality info.
I'm not sure whether or not the privacy sector will ever be larger than the main non-anon currencies, LTC, BTC, BCH, seem to be the best candidates for the currency used most frequently by .gov sanctioned business. That being said, I expect the next tier of the economy to be heavily weighted towards the privacy focused varieties of money. A whole lot of room for growth in both areas of the cryptocurrency world.

Due to the hybrid PoW/PoS system, Decred is able to evolve and adapt in a way that no other decentralized currency currently can. The decision making process of Decred is very well thought out. Furthermore, you didn't mention that Decred has self funded Development (since 10% of the block reward is going to the community fund). Other currencies rely on charity or donations, whereas Decred has a sustainable source of funding. Big advantage!

Nice video! But as you mentioned, there are lots of coins offering the same service. Until we start seeing the adoptability it is hard to predict which one will succeed.
