In today’s episode of Hungry for Returns, I’m going to answer the question:
Who does it affect when a company cuts its dividend? Is the dividend cut to new people buying the stock? Or does it cut dividends of previous stock owners too?
Don’t miss it!

The dividend is a portion of earnings that a company chooses to share with stockholders. It is not a bond! Bonds are debt that the company repays the principle in full with interest. Whereas stock is non-obligatory (they don't gotta pay you nuttin') financing. Stock is really only a ticket to stand in line to receive part of what remains of a companies assets when they go belly-up.
I am sure if you own the stock and the company cuts the dividend the price of the stock will go down.
