Wish I had time to read and before someone says I struggle . I have a levels which have me back after school all the time then I box , I cook for myself shower get to school do homework . I have time but not enough in one go to read .
The "The Richest Man in Babylon" definitely needs to be on this list.
My favorite book: Rich Dad Poor Dad
I only have investing books covered on the channel currently. I might branch out once I get the majority of the top books!
Somehow I believe that when Mr Buffett said he read 80% of his time, he didn’t mean he read self-help books…
A great book.. The Alchemist
The People Smuggler by Robin de Crespingy
my books are :
– invested
– the intelligent investor
– security analysis
– f.u money by Dan lok
Nice plug. But I’ll pick it up. 🙂 Thank you for imparting your wisdom to the next generation.
-Never split the difference
– the tao te ching
Think and Grow Rich is my all time favourite book ? ??
The bible. Particularly the book of Matthew starting from chapter 5 to about 9. It's called the cermon of the mount and it was the source of ik nspiration to Ghandi, Mandela and many others.
I've read a few of "must reads". However, for me, the best book that played a great deal was "Broke Millennial" by Erin Lowry . Very good book when you're starting out on your financial journey.
Just finished Danielle’s book, very worthwhile read. She addresses fears common to us all.
Hmm, seems not pure info for me.. Americans will be Americans
The Dhando investor
Go Danielle!
5:41 Phill is talking about
yoga-sthah—steadfast in yoga;
kuru—perform;
karmani—your duty
this is a sanskrit sholkh and this is the first line of it. Full shlokh is
"yoga-sthah kuru karmani
sangam tyaktva dhananjaya
siddhy-asiddhyoh samo bhutva
samatvam yoga ucyate"
Meaning below:
Be steadfast in yoga, O Arjuna (name of the warrior). Perform your duty and abandon all attachment to success or failure. Such evenness of mind is called yoga.
basic meaning:
don't worry about the result, do the correct deed and take action.
4:58 warrior name is Arjuna (a Panduva), Lord Krishna talking to him to fight his own cousins (Karuvayas).
Phil please please please read The Mind Map Book by Tony Buzan. I would love to hear your thoughts on it
How to win friends and influence people by dale Carnegie
Rich Dad, Poor Dad virtually brought me here.
First 2 books are outstanding! Let those others fall right in the trash can.
Phil, I'm deep into your book "Rule #1". Love it… Great Stuff! I would recommend people also read Jason Greenblatt's books, like "The Little Book that beats the market".
Pre-order incoming 🙂
Eckhart tolle, the power of now =)
The education of a value investor by guy spier is one of the best books I ever read. I am big fan of your videos and the podcast
Nice
I'm great fan of you
Great suggestions – added the ones I haven't read to my reading list. I loved both Atlas Shrugged and Thing & Grow Rich. I recently read two phenom books that I highly recommend and relate to investing. Natural Born Heroes by Christopher McDougall and Nicholas Guy Smith about a group of miliary misfits who conquered the Nazis on the island of Crete in World War II. Great because it explains how to use our all our resources and add some new unique ones to accomplish feats way beyond our wildest expectations. Also The Upstarts by Brad Stone and Dean Temple that explains how Uber and AirBnB became profitable business juggernauts in less than 10 years while helping many other people make good money in the sharing economy.
Hey congrats to your daughter on writing and selling her book!
Hi Phil, those are some great recommendations. One of my favorite books of all times is The Richest Man In Babylon. It's a timeless classic.
Rich Dad Poor Dad is a good one.
Another good book, Warren Buffet and the Interpretation of Financial Statements by Mary Buffet.
Stealing Fire – Steven Kotler & Jamie Wheal – Perfect example of not judging a book by it’s cover. Fascinating read
The celestine prophecy – James Redfield – Read this in one sitting; mind changing
The power of now – Eckhart Tolle – Life changing
Principles – Ray Dalio – currently reading; simply can’t put it down
I'd add "The millionaire mind" by Thomas Stanley and "The millionaire next door" by Thomas Stanley and William Danko
I was a little disappointed that your list didn't include The Bible, especially since at least 2 of those books were about philosophy and higher powers. The Bible is all about the one and only higher power, and believe it or not, there's some investment advice in there too.
Hello Phil!
Thank you for sharing your successful strategies with us.
The book by Stephen R. Covey, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People"
In nowadays, it is important to be a decent, correct person with good ethics.
Awesome Phil
Mr Phil how did you miss zig ziglar see you at the top? It's an all time classic. It teaches about taking care of the most important thing and that's self. Mentally,spiritually,physically and psychologically! Thats an investment we should all make.
But i absolutely love and appreciate your list and interaction with us
Hello Phil! I participated to your workshop in september. Really changed my views on investing for the better! It's always a pleasure to follow your Youtube channel and podcasts. Here are some non investing books I recommend :
– How to win friends and influence people – Dale Carnegie (Warren Buffet's favorite)
– The Monk who sold his Ferrari – Robin Sharma
– The Leader who had no title – Robin Sharma
– The Last Lecture – Randy Pausch
– Awaken the giant within – Tony Robbins
– The Meditations – Marcus Aurelius (A great classic)
– 48 Laws of Power – Robert Greene
Hi Phil! I would add the book The One Thing by Gary Keller to your reading pile! It's a quick read and totally brilliant!
I like Deepak Chopra's "Seven Spiritual Laws of Success".
Recommend adding:
* The classic audio presentation: 'The Strangest Secret in the World' by Earl Nightingale (use the internet search engine of your choice, about 32 minutes; also available in print);
* "The Richest Man In Babylon" by George S. Clason (written in 1926 and still available in print);
* Everything by Jim Rohn, suggest starting with "The 5 Major Pieces To The Life Puzzle" then his "7 Strategies For Wealth and Happiness", followed by his other print & audio/visual items (e.g. 'The Art of Exceptional Living' & 'The Weekend Seminar', etc.);
* Everything by Og Mandino, if you only read 1 of his books suggest "A Better Way to Live", however if you read his other books first and save A Better Way for last it will have (far) more meaning.
Carpe Diem!
