Welcome to the premiere! It begins at 9am PST / 12 noon EST / 5pm GMT, etc.

In this talk, Andreas takes note of the difference in perspective between those in the northern vs. southern hemispheres regarding the current state of Bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency market. Then he addresses the question about what success looks like, and how the road to monopolies and regulatory capture is based on the assumption of a zero-sum game. In contrast, for a real free market and an open creative commons, principles are the most valuable differentiator.

NOTE: At 11:36, I mentioned “maximalism.” The beliefs and values associated with being a “maximalist” are varied and not necessarily equal or compatible with those of the rent-seeking business attitude I was describing in that portion of the talk. If you are unfamiliar with the concept, I talked more about it with Stephen Livera here: https://stephanlivera.com/episode/53

This talk took place on January 29th 2019 as part of a community event at Paseo la Plaza in Buenos Aires, Argentina: https://antonopoulos.com/event/buenos-aires-event/

  1. Andreas for President of the Universe hahaha!!! Thank you Andreas!!! So much clarity and can’t measure the Value of your message!! Im joining you in this Revoulution and spreading this great news as much as I can !!! ?????????✊?

  2. I love Andreas, but the problems he is describing are because these countries do not enforce property rights. In the talk Andreas sounds like he is against property rights. The whole point of bitcoin is to protect people's property rights.

  3. I'm in the crypto north Seattle area. I just got into this in Jan, so by the time I looked at your schedule you must have been here already, otherwise I would have gone for sure! If people think it's all that stable, they're drinking the cool-aid in myho.

  4. The video description says Argentina, the poster behind says Uruguay, Montevideo is that a mistake? Irrespective, great content and are the mismatched shoes representing winter and summer?

  5. I hope we all, including myself, make our voices heard if/when we need to stand up against the 'regulators'….the 'zero sum' people,…..those who will try to take our freedom.

  6. every altcoin is zero sum mentality. The technology is irrelevant it can be adopted as you said. the alt coiners aren't in it for better technology, they are in in because they are envious that they didn't get it to the bitcoin ledger when it was the riskiest asset possible. The all want to be doc brown and buy bitcoin when it was $.10 and be able to sell it when it's 20k. That's why they start new coins so they can be first investors. Problem is the new coins didn't do what bitcoin did, take on enormous financial risk when there was zero certainty it would succeed. Bitcoin core's ledger is the most valuable thing about it, and there is no amount of technology you can create that will not be stolen from you and applied to BTC's ledger. If you think bitcoin has a code problem become a dev. if you don't you simply are a green as fuck with envy faggot trying to bernie madoff this shit.

  7. This is one of those transformative Andreas' talks, one of the all time greats. Super thank you!

But this talk got me thinking: there are still competitions in life, which appear to be inherently zero sum. Most notably status, that is, competition for women. Every sport as well. Or am I missing something?
