I have some stocks through Edward Jones. They have been of little help and take my money. Do I have to sell my stocks at EJ or can they be somehow moved to an online broker like Scottrade?

Scottrade is the worst, not bad trading huge volume mega cap stocks, since what they do is send an email to other Scottrade account holders, what's called "internalization " and make money on the spread, if you trade small cap, or micro cap mid to low volume stocks, good luck using Scottrade, I had so many failures, it makes me sick, on the other hand I have a ameritrade account and I have never had an issue, fast execution and they put your shares on many markets, not just other same broker account holders, a price move on small stocks on the Nasdak moves so fast, by the time Scottrade fails to get another Scottrade holder to buy your shares, the real market already moved against your price. The good news is TD Ameritrade is buying Scottrade and I hope they continue to perform better even if I need to pay more for trade that will hit the real market and not try to make money on the spread between another Scottrade account holders. I've had both for over 15 years and TDA has always executed my orders well, while Scottrade has a 50% fail rate and just gave me all kinds one excuses for failing that it made me sick and angry.

Thanks Sasha! Sounds like this Scottrade is the best deal to start off with for a newbie like me since it's only $500. Then I'll work my way up to the Elite.

Scottrade's backend looks like Yahoo from 2001. It's very underwhelming and unattractive looking.

I have been using tradingview.com for a chart and then using the robinhood app to actually make the trades. I haven't run into any issues with that yet. I just like it because robinhood has no commision on their trades. No options or mutual funds i dont think, just stocks and ETFs, with market, limit, stop loss, and stop limit order options. i just like it because i have a small account and the commission doesnt eat up my money

Yes. This is exactly what I've been waiting for. Can you cover brokerage accounts that allow people from outside the US to trade American stocks? Can you also cover different order types? OCO, OTO,OTT and Contingent order. Because I havn't got my head round some of them
