Dividends can be a great perk of a healthy company, but don’t become overly excited by them because they do not necessarily mean a healthy stock.

What Are They?
-A payment every quarter of the fiscal year.
-If a company is producing x every year, you get paid out 3 or 4 times.
-You can change the payout rate if you are a major shareholder.
-Most are paid out every 4 months
-You can get paid in: cash, stock bonuses, or more shares
-Amateur traders love dividends
-Not every stock pays out a dividend

Dividend Pitfalls:
-Stocks fluctuate and if the stock declines you may get your dividend, but you still lose a portion of your investment
-Don’t choose stocks just because they offer a dividend.
-You want a stock that is in an appreciation
-A dividend should be viewed as an added perk of a healthy company (if you hold onto stocks longer than a quarter)

  1. When a Corporation/Company pays dividends, is it already regular? that they will pay or is it also possible that they will stop paying you.. (not talking about bankruptcy)

  2. i bought Coca Cola and Walmart and they are paying 3.1% and 2.7% consecutively. even with $70,000 invested in both, its barely making any money
Dividend makes real money when its like 100MM invested minimum

  3. Will dividend payments be made to investors who sell the stock after the ex-dividend date but before the payment date?

In other words, do I need to still own the stock at the time of payment to receive the dividend?

I am interested in purchasing a stock with a 12-15 month target sell date and would like to know how a dividend payment might affect my earnings (or losses) lol.

I'm new to your channel and you do a great job with your videos. Thank you!

  4. Amazing video! I have purchased a few books on dividend stocks and have so much knowledge in my head so waiting to put it to work but I'm not quite sure how to begin I want to minimize  as much mistakes as possible. What advice can you give for someone like  me to start investing in stocks with no investing history?

  5. Hello, I am confused about dividend paying stocks. If you decide to buy a stock in a company is the type of company that pays "dividends" quarterly, say you purchase the stock at $30 dollars and the stock happens to go up to $45 dollars.  You decide to sell the stock to gain the 50% profit. Do you actually make a 50% profit and then ALSO get a dividend if you hold it during that particular quarter? Or does that company divide up their quarterly profit and then it gives you less than 50% as they see fit. Thank you.  Great videos by the way. Learned a lot so far.

  6. Most dividends are not paid every four months. It goes to if the guy knows what he is talking about and if he knows he is misleading Investors. Did you catch his other mistakes?

  7. You say 3 times a year, six times a year, “But most dividends are paid out every four months?

You say $200 every four months or $800.00 per payout.

You say $800.00 every for months pays $3,800.00 But my calculator shows it would only pay $2,400.00

Where do you get that extra income?

  8. I see stocks that have two dividends in one month, but none the rest of the year. I see quarterly, monthly the pattern might find weekly. But I do not find stocks that pay dividends every four months.

Do you have a problem with math? The numbers that you give in the example in this video do not add up.
