Nah his arguments are very very weak. He could not defend his points properly. Although, lark you had some very good points when defending your arguments. He Just kept on saying that he do not see any value in other coins but poor points.
I can say the same for bitcoin – First we said oh it is going to destroy banks to replacing fiat, to cross-border payments, to now a store of value. The goal of bitcoin just keeps on changing. The technology and the user interface needs time for bitcoin and Ethereum etc
Privacy is not needed by individuals, privacy is needed to run a business and not leak sensitive information to competitors.
The average guy is not concerned, but the average business might not want to show the daily revenue, or the price paid to a supplier.
No matter how much I love what Bitcoin for what it has done, I just can't see it being the dominant crypto in the future. Other people wasting money on electricity is of no value to me and I know the number of people which agree with me are increasing as there are much better methods of consensus today. Who even wants an economical system which is ever increasing in power consumption? Bitcoin is simply put unsustainable, and no, you can't rely on renewable energy if you are to maintain a global dominant financial network. Besides that, just look how messy it is with a second layer like lightning. Things like that need to take part on the protocol level if it were ever to succeed in being a viable alternative for a future money.
Bitcoin is dumb (not in a derogative way) and we need smart money. Ethererum was developed for a reason, and although Ethereum probably will have a much better chance to keep its dominance in the future compared to Bitcoin, Eth still has nothing on the third and fourth generation of cryptocurrency.
I am slowly seeing the whole "toxicity" that people lean towards more and more as I see different platforms and crypto projects progress. Not a Developer, but I always thought and still think Devs are amazing with their knowledge on building all this out. The more platforms and projects that come out, the more opportunities there are to actually reach a major changing milestone that is world wide. Doesn't happen instantly but these different ideas on different platforms are stepping stones to progress us in life.
