It's pretty well known that the fork will still likely occur in 2018. The fork is inevitable as and increase to block size is needed, but they didn't want to go through with it now due to lack of community support.

I mean since they said that the hard fork was cancelled for now, I knew at some point it was going to occur, didnt know when exactly but not a couple of days after for sure.
